Posters of a new political party, Miracle People's Party (MPP), with the crab as its emblem in red and purple colours on a white background have been spotted at vantage points across the city of Accra.
As to who is behind this party or whether it’s a renaming of an existing party or a completely new one, are the questions on the lips of most Ghanaians.
Some political pundits even claim New Patriotic Party (NPP) bigwigs are the brains behind the posters, simply as a means of sabotaging Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s political ambitions should he declare his intention to contest as the party’s flagbearer for the 2016 elections.
But a former Member of Parliament for Berekum and aspiring NPP General Secretary, Captain (Rtd) Nkrabea Effah Dartey whose name has been mentioned as one of the ‘saboteurs’ has flatly denied being a member of the MPP.
He categorically stated that, “Nkrabea Effah Dartey is still a member of the NPP. I have no idea of such a bogus party like the “MPP” aligning NPP to it”.
Speaking on Adom FM, Lawyer Effah Dartey described the MPP as a “phantom party, hoax” adding, its purpose is to “divide and destroy the NPP”. He, however, gave the assurance that the NPP is determined more than ever and will “come back to power in 2016”.
