National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has reacted to a leaked tape making headlines in the media purporting that he has called for an attack on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensa.

The National Chairman says, the purported tape is a strategy used by the New Patriotic Party to distract the NDC from focusing on regaining power in the 2020 general election.

According to him, he has been in politics for almost 30 years and not once has it been said of him, to have verbally assaulted somebody or called for attack on anyone.

“I have been in politics for almost 30 years there is no evidence that I have involved myself in any violence or spoken against anybody” he said. Assuring party members of the party’s focus, Ofosu Ampofo said “The leadership of the party is in control and we will ensure that we work together to bring the party back to power come 2020”.

According to him,” the NDC has demonstrated unity, togetherness and each time that is done, know that victory is beckoning us”. Reacting to a call made by the NPP for his resignation, the NDC National Chairman said,” In less than 3 months ago, you elected me as the National Chairman, now the NPP has organized a press conference asking me to resign, I want to assure you that I am a man of peace and my hands are clean”.

Ofosu Ampofo was addressing party members who joined in the party’s victory walk from Kawukudi Park to El-Wak Sports Staduim on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

“I want to remain focus, the NDC wants to remain focus, we will win the election free, fair and clear” he noted
