Coordinator in charge of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) has said that the recent challenges with the payment of some trainees has nothing to do with the program but is due to failure by some trainees to comply with directions from authorities.
Regional Coordinator, Hajj Baba Mohammed explained that some trainees delay with the submission of their time sheets which is necessary for compilation and payments, resulting in snags and delays.
“Honestly the problem we are facing with the arrears is not from NABCO, it is from the trainees, you are supposed to submit your time sheet by 23rd of every month but some of them decide to wait to 28th before submitting this time sheet, by then we have finished with the validation and it means that when you are not validated, you can never be paid and that is happening” he said
“They are graduates and we expect them to follow simple instructions, some of them are asked to go into the portal to update their details. They will receive the SMS alert and ignore them…” he added
He also urged trainees who were affected by the consolidation of the banks to open new accounts with banks that were not affected.
The Regional Coordinator was speaking at the briefing held to commence the activity plan ahead of the one year anniversary of NABCO in the Greater Accra Region.
NABCO is a government initiative which was introduced in May 2018 to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems in the country.
So far over 109,380 have been admitted to work on this initiative across the country.
