The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has asked Ghanaians to disregard social media posts on a possible earthquake in Ghana.

The country’s disaster management organization says the posts have no scientific basis.

Posts circulating on social media on Saturday predicted an earthquake in some southern Africa countries.

They predicted that an occurrence will be felt heavily in Ghana between midnight and 3:30am.

But NADMO says that cannot be true since “earthquake cannot be predicted”.

“It can occur at any time without warning,” it said in a statement released Saturday evening.

“NADMO therefore wishes to inform the general public that the said post in circulation has no scientific basis and must be disregarded.”
