NAFTI graduates asked to be ambassadors of change

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Education has urged graduates of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) to eschew acts of indiscipline and be ambassadors of change in the society.

He charged the graduates to make positive use of the knowledge acquired and impact it in their various field of disciplines for quality delivery.

Dr Prempeh gave the advice in a speech read on his behalf by Professor Mohammed Salifu, the Executive Director of the National Council on Tertiary Education at the 15th graduation ceremony of NAFTI for the award of degree, diploma and certificate programmes in Accra.

The Minister was confident that the graduates had received invaluable educational training to achieve their dreams and become the next generation of global leaders to make an impact in the society.

He commended the Institute for the great strides it had made in the capital-intensive sector, despite the challenges it faced with financing over the years.

He said government recognised the creative arts industry as a strategic sector for development, hence, the need to support the Institute with modern equipment to improve teaching and learning.

“Government is committed to the transformational agenda of the Institute and urge management to position the institute to be among the best in West Africa,” he added.

Dr Prempeh encouraged movie producer to be digital literate and critical thinkers as far as their professional expertise was concerned to be abreast with modern techniques in the industry.

He urged the graduates to be guided by high moral principles in the presentation of media content and be sensitive to the development of the Ghanaian cultural identity.

Dr Samuel Anyetei Nai, Rector of NAFTI, commended government for supporting the Institute with the appropriate resources to function effectively in the modernization and development of the media industry.

Dr Nai said the Institute was working assiduously in its transformational agenda to stay abreast with global media training trends to support the modernization and professional development of the country’s digital media environment.

Professor Kofi Agyekum, the Dean of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, who represented the Vice Chancellor, urged the graduates to demonstrate high standard of performance, excellence, and integrity on the job market.

He tasked them to consistently sparkle and brighten the corner wherever they would find themselves either locally or internationally.

Mr Isaac Nii Kpakpo won the best academic excellence award in the Degree category, while Hannah Kudzodzi won for the Diploma category and Natasia Ethel Lamin won that of the Certificate category.
