Staff of troubled gold-trading firm, Menzgold Ghana limited, has called on the government of Ghana to free Nana Appiah Mensah and facilitate the payment of $39 million owed him by Diamond Royale Company.
The workers in a statement noted that Menzgold can only pay its customers if the company’s CEO is paid the said amount.
“When the said money is paid we as loyal staffs can effect prompt payment to customers even with or without Nana Appiah Mensah’s (NAM1) presence,” the statement reads.
Interpol reportedly rearrested the Menzgold CEO upon a red alert triggered by the government of Ghana after he won his case in a Dubai court.
Staff of Menzgold who believe there are plans to extradite the CEO before he can retrieve the money owed him have appealed to the government to let Interpol free him as it is not a good idea for him to return to Ghana without the money.
Nana Appiah Mensah was arrested in Dubai in November 2018 over a gold deal gone bad with the Diamond Royale Company but won the case in court.
The court ordered the company with which he had issues to pay him all outstanding debts.
