Former coach of Asante Kotoko, Isaac Opeele Boateng, has expressed concerns that NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, may have jeopardized the party's chances in the upcoming 2024 elections with his remarks about the late President Kwame Nkrumah.
Boateng argues that NAPO's criticism of Nkrumah's legacy, despite the latter's significant contributions to the nation's current strength, is controversial.
The coach also noted that NAPO's controversial statements could upset admirers of Nkrumah, potentially leading to a loss of votes for the NPP.
Boateng emphasized the importance of NAPO receiving proper guidance on public communication to prevent his comments from further damaging the party's image.
He wrote on X, “I told you guys, and I stand by my words. You see today, NAPO made Nkrumah take some blows. You can imagine how it can anger some people in Nzema and cost votes there. This is why I said we need divine guidance to help NAPO when speaking, or more votes will be lost soon. Trust me.”
These remarks follow Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's praise of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government, which he believes is unmatched in Ghana's 67 years of independence.
Speaking to party leaders and supporters in Kumasi on Tuesday, June 9, 2024, NAPO argued that no other Ghanaian president, including the nation's first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has been as instrumental in driving the country's development as President Akufo-Addo.
NAPO asserted, "This is unprecedented in Ghana's history. Should President Akufo-Addo retire, I can confidently say that since Ghana's establishment in 1957, no president has been more beneficial to the state than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo."
NAPO's claim that "from 1957 until now, no one, not even 'your' Kwame Nkrumah, has led and developed Ghana more than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo" has sparked strong criticism on social media, with some condemning him for his disrespectful remarks.

You can imagine how it can infuriate some people in Nzema for NPP to lose votes there.
