Kumasi, May 20, GNA - The National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI) plans to step up its activities in entrepreneurship development for students in tertiary institutions to create enterprise culture and boost up business creation.
Miss Beatrice B. Boakye, Head of the Kumasi Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the NBSSI, who announced this, explained that students in tertiary institutions would continue to receive entrepreneurial training to create enterprise culture and facilitate business creation from the board.
Miss Boakye was addressing the closing session of the fourth in the series of entrepreneurship awareness seminar for 25 third year students of the Agricultural Engineering Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Friday.
It was to motivate and re-orient them to consider self-employment as a viable option to salary or wage employment and appreciate the opportunities and rewards in establishing small-scale enterprises.
Other students, who have benefited from the programme, were the Biochemistry students of KNUST and Purchasing and Supply Students Association and Ghana Statistics Students Association both from the Kumasi Polytechnic.
Miss Boakye said the Board would continue to focus its attention on entrepreneurship development and urged the participants to embrace the programme and strengthen their information seeking ability and utilise the services of the centre.
Professor Israel Kofi Dzokoto, Head of the Agricultural Engineering Department, asked the participants to avail themselves of such seminars since job opportunities have become more restrictive and sophisticated.
