Lawyer for former Board Chair of the NCA Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie today accused the Director of Legal Administration of the authority, Mrs. Abena Kwarkoa Asafu-Adjei of resentment towards his client.

His accusation stems from the fact that Mrs Asafu-Adjei was reassigned from his position of Director of Legal Administration during the tenure of the former Board Chairman.

Mrs Asafu-Adjei was reassigned in March 2016 after being compelled to go on her accumulated 8 month leave in July 2015.

Lawyer for the former Board Chair, Tadius Sorry was of the opinion that the leave and reassignment had built up a certain level of resentment towards Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie because she was unhappy with the decisions.

Tadius Sorry made the allusion during cross examination of the prosecution witness in the case of causing financial loss to the state against 4 former employees of the NCA and a private individual.

Mrs Asafu-Adjei had under cross examination indicated that she was asked to proceed on leave despite the fact that colleagues who had accumulated more leave days than her were still at post.

She was restored to her position as Head Legal Administration and Special duties when the NPP came to power.

Mrs Asafu-Adjei was also reinstated to her position as Board Secretary which was taken from her in 2011, a position she held since 2003.

She is also responsible for procurement which was under the jurisdiction of the Director of Finance.

But Mrs Asafu-Adjei refuted the assertion that she was unhappy with the decision to ask her to proceed on an 8-month accumulated leave.

She described the former Board Chair, Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie as a good friend.

She said her new position as Director in charge of procurement was given to her because she was competent and had integrity and the expertise required.
