The attention of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has been drawn to a newsc publication in today's edition of the Ghanaian Times Newspaper, attributing a statement that borders on national security and the 2024 General Election to the NCCE.
The Commission dissociates itself from the publication and wishes to state that neither the Chairperson of NCCE, Ms. Kathleen Addy nor any of her staff across the country made that statement. The statement is untrue.
The general public has been misinformed and the Commission does not associate with claims by the newspaper. The reporter and the media house's attention have been drawn to the anomaly and the Commission has demanded a rejoinder from the Ghanaian Times Newspaper to correct the purported statement.
The Commission urges the public, the media, security agencies and all state actors to treat the publication as misinformation. The Commission over the years has sensitised the public and its stakeholders on misinformation and this is a clear example of what the NCCE has been engaging the general public on.
It behoves all to be guided and to fact-check information before sharing or
publishing.
God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong!
