All former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who were appointed by the NDC administration have thrown their weight behind former President John Dramani Mahama as he seeks to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Mr Mahama is contesting against seven other flag bearer-aspirants in the 26 January primaries of the main opposition party in Ghana.
The former MMDCEs in a statement signed by their spokesperson and former MCE for Suhum, Margret Ansei (Magoo), on Tuesday, 11 December 2018, said:
“We the former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) of the NDC do hereby commend and thank His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for accepting our pleas and cries to contest the NDC Presidential primaries.
“It can be recalled that early this year, after our maiden Ex-MMDCEs conference themed ‘Reorganizing the NDC for victory 2020; the role of Ex-MMDCEs’, we called on His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to make his intention to contest for the presidential primaries known to us."
“As a listening leader, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama announced his intention to contest for the presidential primaries shortly after we had prevailed on him."
“It is our belief that His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama will emerge as the flag bearer of the NDC for the 2020 presidential elections."
"We trust His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama will lead the NDC to victory in 2020 in order to relieve the good people of Ghana from the immense pain and hardship afflicting them courtesy the inept and clueless Nana Akufo-Addo led government."
"Ghanaians can no longer cope with the suffering the country has been plunged into.”
