The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency chairman for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Musah Abubakar, alias “Muntum” lost his cool on a Kumasi-based radio station, Nhyira FM when he was called to speak to allegations levelled against him by a known NPP sympathizer in the area.

The NDC Executive instead of speaking to the matter, heavily descended on the journalist and host of ‘Kukratumi’, a political talk show, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin with unprintable words and curses without any provocation from the renowned journalist.

“You are very stupid! …God will punish for asking me a stupid a question”, Chairman Muntum described and hanged up the call.

It is unclear if the NDC Chairman had already been infuriated by an unknown person prior to answering the call for the live interview but as soon as he was brought on air he started attacking journalists urging members of the inky fraternity to step out for first-hand information rather than to sit in the comfort of their studios and grant interviews.

Earlier last week, there was chaos at the ongoing limited voter registration exercise at the Asawase Constituency where clashes between supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and supporters of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the registration centre stalled the exercise for three hours.

The supporters were angry about the rate at which the NPP was allegedly bussing Senior High School students to the centre to register, resulting in the brawl.

A joint military and police team was deployed to the centre to maintain peace and order as the Deputy Regional Police Commander (DCOP) Fred Adu Anim, Regional Electoral Commission (EC) boss, Benjamin Bannor-Bio; and representatives of the NPP and NDC groups met to resolve the matter before the exercise resume.

Following allegations that the NDC Chairman instigated it, the journalist called to get his side of the story but rather infuriated him and in the process went ballistic and throwing jabs at the poor journalist who was only doing his job.
