Akwatia, (E/R) Aug. 13, GNA - Mr. Baba Jamal, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary, has said that this year's Akwatia Constituency elections has been unique since all contestants, who vied for various posts had positions to fill in the party. Mr. Baba Jamal said this when addressing members at NDC congress to elect new executives at Akwatia, on Tuesday.
Mr Cephas Wutoh, the party's former chairman who led the party to victory during the 1992/96 general elections was re-elected chairman for the party.
He had four deputies-- Nana Amoah Bosompem, Mr Stephen Neglodze, Mr.Kofi Sakyi Snr. And Mr. Enoch Graham.
Mr. Cephas Wutor had 121 votes with Nana Amoah Bosompem having 97 votes during the chairmanship election.
Mr. Kofi Sakyi and Mr. Enoch Graham, who contested for the post of vice-chairmen automatically became third and fourth chairmen. Mr Kwaku Ofori Abrakwa who was acting as secretary of the constituency was re-elected secretary unopposed. His deputies were Mr. Caius Dakudzi and Mr. Joseph Kofi Asiedu.
Mr Ernest Kwame Ankrah maintained his post as Organizer, while Mr. Michael Quarshie is now the first deputy and Mr. Emmanuel Amevor, the second deputy Organiser.
Mr. Fuseini Salifu was elected unopposed as Treasurer with Mr Tijani Nontoh Kosoko and Mr. J.P. Adomako as deputies. The Propaganda Secretary spot went to Mr Noble Glorkpor with Mr. James Effisah and Mr. Kwasi Adu becoming first and second deputies. Other posts are Mr Yaw Antwi, elected Youth Organizer unopposed and the deputies-- Mr David Dakudzi and Mr John Quarcoe. The post of Women's Organizer went to Madam Asmanu Adams unopposed. Miss Felicia Darkoah and Madam Mawutor are first and second deputy organizers.
Other executive members were: Mr. Amofa Boateng, Francis Afranie, Doe Ayekple, Madam Zenabu Dawuda, Ayow Gilbert, Tanko Taminu and Felix Agbekor
Mr Tawiah Boateng, the Eastern Regional NDC Organizer urged the members to work extremely harder for the party to regain those seats lost in past elections. He also advised them to educate the people on the policies of NDC and NPP to let them know that NDC policies favoured the people, especially the poor and needy.
Mr Cephas Wutoh, the newly-elected chairman, on behalf of the new executives, thanked the members for the confidence reposed in them and assured them that the would endeavour to move the party to power both at the constituency and national levels.
