NDC Constituents encouraged to develop Party Structures in Local Communities

NDC Constituencies have been encouraged to support the development of the Party structures in local communities with the objective of strengthening and deepening democracy in the country. Speaking to the Executives of the Jasikan Constituency in the Bueman District in Volta Region, Chris Addy-Nayo of NDC Europe urged the Constituency Executives to support the growth of the Party in local Constituencies to compliment government’s social and economic agenda in the communities.

He explained the rational behind NDC Europe which includes the need to strengthen the NDC Party and Democratic Governance in Ghana and to build alliance with Socialist Parties in Europe leading to policies which impacts positively on Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Mr John Opoku, a Constituency Executive expressed appreciation for the interaction with NDC Constituents both home and abroad. He encouraged Party members to look beyond individual interests and focus on the development of the Party for nation building.

Chris further encouraged the Constituency Executives and Party members to be abreast with challenges affecting sustainable development in local communities. These include development challenges such as environmental degradation, Child Rights and Gender issues to enable them explain government policies to local communities.

The Chairman of the Jasikan Constituency, Mr Elias Dzenu expressed his appreciation for the dialogue with members of NDC Europe and called for more interaction between different Constituencies to support the institution of the NDC Party in Local Communities.

He also requested technical assistance from NDC Europe members to develop their competencies in new emerging areas such as environmental issues, Child Rights and also promised to involve more women in the Party structures at the Local Community Level.
