NDC Ghodia Club inaugurated at Tema

Tema, Oct 27, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged residents of Zongo Communities to promote the party's activities and policies in their areas. Alhaji Yussif Mahamud Captain, NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman, said the party had done a lot for Zongo communities and it was appropriate that they promoted its activities. He said this on Sunday at Tema during the inauguration of Ghodia Club of NDC, a club for the Zongo communities in the Tema Metropolis. Alhaji Captain said during the administration of the NDC, Muslims had no problems travelling to Mecca to perform the Hajj adding that performing the Hajj has become a nightmare under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Mr Ibrahim Issah, Secretary of the club, said the club was founded on September 26, 2006 by the young executive members of the NDC at Ashaiman, Kpone Katamanso and Tema East constituencies. He said the club aims at consolidating a strong support base for the party in the Zongo communities as well as enhance the fortune of the party in the future. Mr Issah said the club chose the name Ghodia, which means thanksgiving, to express their gratitude to the party for its contributions to the social and economic needs of the Muslim people. He said the NDC introduced the Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
