Koforidua, March 18, GNA - Mr Bismark Tawiah-Boateng, Eastern Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Tuesday challenged the Atta Mills Forever Group, a political group affiliated to the Party, to initiate new campaign methods to complement efforts of the national executive to win power in the December elections.
He urged members of the group to continue the "I care for you" campaign initiated by Professor John Evans Atta Mills, NDC flagbearer in addition to a house-to-house campaign.
Mr Tawiah-Boateng was speaking at the first national executive meeting of the group in Koforidua, which was attended by representatives countrywide.
He urged the group to use its structures to promote NDC parliamentary aspirants, "because when Prof. Mills becomes the president of the country, he would need majority support in parliament to be able to push his vision for the fast development of the country". Mr Seth Okyere, Deputy Regional Secretary of the Party warned the group that they could face a lot of challenges since it is not all members who would appreciate their efforts.
He held that their ability to resolve such challenges would enable them to win more support even from outside the NDC fold to vote for the Party.
Mr Okyere urged the group to target floating voters, as well as those sitting on the fence by pursuing a well strategized campaign. Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Donkor, National Chairman of the Atta Mills Forever Group, explained that, the theme for the meeting, "Change a soul for a better Ghana," was aimed at challenging all members and sympathizers of the NDC to at least win one Ghanaian to vote for the Party at the December elections.
Mr Donkor said the group was made up of people who shared in the vision of Prof Mills and believed that the best way they could help and ensure that the vision was implemented was to spread it to every Ghanaian home for people to understand and accept it.
He assured that the group was not taking over the work of any Party executive or functionary but to complement their efforts and ensure that the NDC wins the massively in the general election.
