NDC Is Truly Broke- Bagbin

Two leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress- NDC have confirmed that the party is facing financial problems, and urged members to contribute towards the party's coffers.

The founder and leader of the party Jerry Rawlings and the Minority Leader in parliament Alban Bagbin said the party's financial problems are the result of the kind of democracy and politicking they engaged in.

Bagbin says the NDC does not believe in property owning democracy, adding that governance is not about sharing money.

The NDC MP for Nadowli North was addressing party members at a New Year reception hosted by Jerry Rawlings in Accra.

He blamed the party's poor financial base on the policies it adopted and encouraged members to be proud about it, instead of being shy that they are broke.

"Do not feel shy in telling people that we are poor. The party is broke."

This position was corroborated by the party's leader and former President, Jerry Rawlings who also opined that the NDC is poor because of the high level of integrity it exhibited whilst in office.

"There is nothing shameful about the party's cash problems. We are not loaded," he stressed.

Jerry Rawlings asked members to endeavour to contribute towards assisting in the party's work, since there is a lot of work ahead to be done.
