Deputy Minister of Information, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, has chastised the Minority in Parliament for failing to investigate the source of monies paid into their accounts under the previous administration.
The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency in the Eastern Region said in the era where numerous fraudulent activities are taking place, one should know the source of money that is credited to his account, noting the possibility of someone using the account for fraudulent purposes.
The National Democratic Congress Minority in Parliament is accusing the Akufo-Addo-led government of employing every means possible to cow its members, in order to cover up government’s poor performance.
The MPs claimed 25 of their members received “strange” letters and phone calls from the CID last week, inviting them to confer with Director of CID, DCOP Mrs. M.Y.T. Addo-Danquah in connection with the double salary issue.
Some Minority MPs claimed they received payments without knowing the sources because it was not salaries alone but other per diems were added.
Reacting to the issue, Nana Ama Dokua, on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa on Wednesday hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa, wondered why the minority is now complaining but went silent and cool with those payments.
“If you get money into your account and you don’t know the source, you must investigate to find out where it came from because there is fraud in the system”, she explained.
She said, “let allow the institutions [Police CID] to work because the NPP government does not want to interfere in their work”.
“I take one salary and all the MPs who are also minister take one salary under the Nana Addo government”, she added.
