On Saturday March 30 there was drama at Worcester, Massachusetts in the United States of America when supporters of the National Democratic Congress gathered to protest the economic hardship in Ghana. This was at a time President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was in a meeting with the Ghanaian community at the Worcester State University.

The protestors carried posters with inscriptions such as ‘The money is here. You have borrowed more with nothing to show’; ‘Corruption here, corruption there…corruption everywhere!! Akufo-Addo’s Ghana’; ‘Fix the economy, stabilize the cedi’ among several others.

One of such protesters who was seen screaming over a megaphone “Nana Addo is killing us. Akufo-Addo is a thief” incurred the fury of nearby party enthusiasts who had converged at the premise to hail the President for his tenure.

In what looked like a ‘battle of words’, both party supporters standing at either sides of each other hurled insults which was met with chants of appellations about the incumbent Akufo-Addo administration.

‘Nana Addo has set Ghana free from IMF’; ‘Ghana is grateful for no more dumsor’ and ‘Mr President thank you for stable jobs Ayekoo!!’ were some of the inscriptions on their placards.

“you won’t enjoy the money again… John Mahama is a thief, he will not win again,” one of the NPP supporters countered what the NDC’s claims.

President Akufo-Addo is currently in the United States of America and is set to continue to Cuba on a 9-day visit to the two countries in honour of outstanding invitations extended to him to participate in public engagement programmes there.
