NDC National Organiser To Resign

The National Organiser of the opposition national Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Ofoso Ampofo has hinted that he is considering opting out of politics as result of threats and violent incidents that are creeping into Ghana?s politics.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo said on PeaceFMs political and current affairs programme ?Parliament On Radio? on Monday night that it is likely that people like him, who do not like violence will opt out of politics if its violent acts continue to dominate politics.

According to him, his life is invariably under threat, anytime he gets on the ground to organise political events. He added that he would not hesitate to resign if it continues. Citing as an example violent incidents that preceded the Asawase by-election and afterwards, the NDC organiser said such acts can no longer be tolerated by him.

He urged the security agencies particularly the police to investigate thoroughly those incidents and bring the perpetrators to book, no matter which political divide they belong to. He however deplored the huge presence of military personnel during the Asawase by-election last Thursday which he described as unnecessary.

He said the margin would have been wider than what was recorded by the NDC, since the presence of the military might have scared a number of the voters.
