The NDC parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Rita Amonu Gyamfua Antwi, has said that winning the Manhyia South seat for the NDC is a done deal.

She said the idea that Manhyia South is a sealed seat for the NPP has become a thing of the past.

Revealing the records, she said it was very unfortunate that the NPP keeps failing the people of Manhyia South despite receiving endorsements in almost every election.

She accused Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka NAPO, of exhibiting gross incompetence during his tenure as MP for the area.

According to her, the only practice associated with NAPO is giving money to delegates so that they could always endorse him.

"Manhyia South is lagging behind in terms of development under NAPO's leadership. There's nothing good he can point to as his achievements. When it comes to jobs and development, among others, NAPO is a complete failure. The only practice he is known for is sharing money with delegates. Now, people are enlightened, and that is why you can see most of the youth following me and the NDC. They know what I'm capable of doing. Even now that I have not become an MP, most of the youth can testify that I have done a lot to help," she said.

She further disclosed that she had created more than a hundred jobs for the youth in Manhyia, adding that her opponent, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, together with his current replacement, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah (Esq), can never match her.

"My opponent can never boast of a single job he has created for the youth," she added.

She said all this in an interview with the media after successfully filing her nomination forms at the Ashanti Regional Electoral Commission office.

Commenting on the process, she expressed joy over how the process had been. She further commended the Electoral Commission for making the process a smooth one for her.

Meanwhile, the NDC parliamentary candidate was accompanied by numerous party gurus, such as Kwadwo Bonsu, the former Kumasi Mayor and presidential aspirant, and some regional and constituency executives.

Numerous party supporters also besieged the regional office of the Electoral Commission to cheer up the 39-year-old energetic aspirant.

Expressing joy over the support she had received, she thanked the national, regional, and constituency executives.

She especially thanked Mr. Kwadwo Bonsu for his unflinching support and encouragement.

However, she assured her commitment to serving the good people of the constituency, urging them to vote massively for her and the NDC to win power.

Lastly, some women who ditched the NPP to follow Mrs. Rita Amonu Gyamfua Antwi explained their reasons.

According to them, their decision was informed by the incompetent nature of the NPP and Manhyia South MP Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

"They take us for granted because we kept following them sheepishly. Now, we are enlightened, and no one can deceive us again. The idea that Ashantis are for NPP has become a thing of the past," they said.
