Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency, Ras Mubarak has reported businessman Hamza Abdul Aziz to the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for allegedly pumping money into the campaign of his main contender and the eventual winner of last Saturday’s primaries, Dr. Hamza Adams a lecturer at the University of Development Studies.
According to him, he has no problem with his contender whom he has congratulated personally and assured him of his support come 2020.
However, available information to him indicates that the said sponsor of his contender’s campaign has been involved in some money laundering issues.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' program, he explained that an amount of GHc 500,000 was shared to delegates on behalf of his main rival Dr. Hamza Adams by the said businessman.
"I have documents to prove such and I have officially written to the BNI to commence investigations into the activities of the businessman who sponsored the campaign of his rival," he said.
He said there are businessmen in this country who support the activities and campaign of party candidates but he believes that no one will spend such an amount of money on primaries alone.
"I genuinely want the BNI to investigate him to at least make sure that taxes were declared on the money he shared."
"Nonetheless, I support the win of my rival and I have promised my unflinching support for him as we fight to safeguard the seat in 2020," he added.
