NDC Race: I’m not against Mahama’s bid – George Opare Addo

Former President John Mahama Former President John Mahama

National Youth Organizer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Opare Addo dismissed claims that he’s against the presidential bid of ex-President John Mahama.

He’s accused his political opponent of trying desperately to drive a wedge between himself, the former President and other Flagbearer aspirants in a bid to scuttle his chances of being elected as the leader of the young wing of the NDC.

In a statement, George Opare Addo who’s the former Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North said “For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state emphatically, that; I am not against the presidential bid of JM in any conceivable way and for that matter any other presidential hopeful of the NDC.

“I shall remain independent and loyal to the NDC and will support to the hilt any candidate elected by the delegates as the flag bearer of NDC. To this end, I urge all members of our great party and in particular the various Constituency Youth Organizers and their deputies to ignore any such information to the effect that I am against the bid of JM.”

Below is the full statement

My attention has been drawn to the desperate attempts by some faceless individuals to incite Constituency Youth Organizers and their deputies against my quest to become the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The modus operandi of the said individuals is the use of private lines to make calls to Constituency Youth Organizers and their deputies, casting me, as somebody who is opposed to the presidential bid of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama (JM). This is palpable falsehood and can only be the political machinations of my opponents. I challenge the said individuals to do this with their clear identities if they honestly believe in what they are propagating against me.

For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state emphatically, that; I am not against the presidential bid of JM in any conceivable way and for that matter any other presidential hopeful of the NDC.

I shall remain independent and loyal to the NDC and will support to the hilt any candidate elected by the delegates as the flag bearer of NDC. To this end, I urge all members of our great party and in particular the various Constituency Youth Organizers and their deputies to ignore any such information to the effect that I am against the bid of JM.

More so, I do recognize the pivotal role the Youth Wing of the NDC is expected to play with regard to unifying and galvanizing the support of the youth/grassroots of the NDC in order to recapture power from the super incompetent President Nana Addo led NPP government in the 2020 general election. As one of the contenders to lead the youth front of the NDC therefore, I will not be baited by these machinations to engage in divisive politicking that will disable me from unifying and rallying the youth of our party, if I am eventually elected as the National Youth Organizer of NDC by the discerning delegates.

I wish to urge all members of the NDC particularly my and other interested parties in the National Youth Organizer race to engage in contest of ideas in their campaigns. This will make it possible for all of us to rally behind whoever emerges as the National Youth Organizer of the NDC, in the interest of the party. We must all as members of the NDC eschew the politics of recrimination, mudslinging and destruction as a necessary prerequisite for our unity after all the internal elections of the party. I have so far demonstrated decency and candour in my campaign and my pledge is that I shall continue same.

Let me use this opportunity to thank all Constituency Youth Organizers and their deputies for their overwhelming endorsement of the “Pablo Project]” when I visited your respective constituencies within the Greater Accra, Volta, and Eastern Regions as well as some constituencies in the Ashanti Region. I am encouraging you to remain firm in your support for my candidature, and that with me as your National Youth Organizer, Bibiaa Beye Fine!

GEORGE OPARE ADDO [PABLO] NDC

National Youth Organizer Aspirant, 11th August, 2018.
