Aspiring flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama stopped by at the Wa polling center on his way to his constituency, Bole-Bamboi.

The former president was welcomed by members of his party who waited on their turn to cast their votes at the polling center.

In a post on Social Media, Mahama wrote, “I stopped by the Wa Central Constituency polling centre this morning, to observe the voting process, on my way to cast my vote in my constituency, Bole- Bamboi.”

Mahama happened to bump into one of his contenders, Mr Alban Sumanu Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament who had come to cast his votes at the polling station. The two shared pleasantries with each other before parting ways.

Five other party members; Mr Goosie Tanoh, a businessman, Professor Joshua Alabi, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a Former Minister of Education and Trade, Mr Sylvester Mensah, a former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority and Alhaji Nurudeen Iddrisu, a businessman are all in contention for the Presidential spot in the NDC.

This is the fourth time the NDC is setting the stage for a competitive selection of a flag bearer as the party’s candidates for 1992, 1994, 2000 and 2016 were selected through popular acclamation.
