The Daily Guide newspaper is reporting that the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), David Tettey Kwame, has been arrested over cocaine.
The paper said in its January 29 edition that the NDC Youth Organiser was rounded up together with others at the Kotoka Interna¬tional Airport during a swoop by security officials.
Sources disclosed that the 29-year-old, who was said to be the special assistant in- charge of protocol to the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, was arrested two weeks ago and had since been remanded into prison custody.
Even though the MP conceded that David is the constituency Youth Organiser, he denied that the cocaine suspect is his special assistant.
David, a clearing agent, is scheduled to reappear in court on Friday February 6, 2015, according to sources.
MP Denies
Some observers had sought to link the MP for Lower Manya Krobo to the cocaine deal, but Mr Terlabi, who is also a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, denied the claim while expressing surprise about the whole saga.
Reports suggested the supposed consign¬ment in a container, which was coming from China, and on which the said cocaine was found, belonged to the MP's son - an allega¬tion Mr Terlabi also rubbished during an interview with Daily Guide.
While he admitted knowing about the gentleman's arrest, he said neither him nor any member of his family had any link with the issue.
"As a party person when my executive gets into trouble, I must be concerned but not when they want to press the thing and say the consignment that is coming is mine and all of a sudden I have a son and things like that...," he said.
He continued, "I've not seen him; if he is in police custody, how can I see him? I've not had access to him. Well if I get the opportuni¬ty I will go and visit him but I don't know where he is."
On the issue of his supposed son's involvement, Mr Terlabi had to said, "whoever mentioned it should be pre¬pared to meet me in court and I am going to fight it with the last drop of my blood; that one I can assure you, my brother.
"I don't have a son; maybe that’s the rea¬son why God never gave me a son. Neither do I have a daughter or whatever anywhere who imports nor does any other business," he fumed, warning, "Whoever says he’s my son will have to come and prove it."
