NDC Zongo Caucus tours Western Region

The Zongo Caucus of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has tour the Western Region to encourage the Zongo communities to patronise the biometric voter registration exercise.

A statement signed by Alhaji Yussif Mohammed Captain, National Coordinator of the Caucus and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said, the tour forms part of the programme of the body to increase the NDC’s tally in Election 2012.

The statement said: “The tour will continue to all the regions in the country and I assure the NDC that the zongo communities are going to vote for the party massively for it to continue with its “Better Ghana Agenda” development.

“We the zongo Caucus expresses our enormous appreciation to the Government of Ghana and the NDC for lifting up the zongo communities by providing education, health and basic social amenities in the zongo communities, which we deserve and merit by all standards.”

The statement said the Western Region zongo communities was one of the communities which was not performing creditably for the NDC but shown up in the 2008 Election with high numbers of votes which contributed to the victory of the party.

It said the zongo communities has so far not recorded any incident about the registration exercise and appealed to the people to remain calm and protect their dignity as citizens.

The statement said: “The NDC would continue to win votes in the zongo communities because the party respects the core values of the people living in the zongos.”

He appealed to the party to continue to support the zongo communities to develop.**
