Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has said that the two dominant political parties in the country, National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) have created a serious division in the country.

According to him all issues in the country are politicised and that is not type of country citizens aspire to have.

He said, “The two political parties NPP and NDC have a created a serious division in the country. Every issue in Ghana now is politicised. And there is an ongoing struggle between the NPP and NDC. Obviously, this is not sustainable. This is not the Ghana we all aspire to have.”

He said this during his speech during his encounter with the IEA on October 1, 2024.

According Alan Kyeremanten "Seventy to eighty percent of Ghanaians have given a strong indication that they do not intend to vote in the 2024 general election because the two dominant parties have failed the country for a number of reasons."

Alan Kyerematen added that the NPP-NDC duopoly has given rise to nepotism.

“The duopoly has given rise to a winner takes all syndrome. Once a party comes into office all the spoils of the office belongs to only those who belong to that particular party,” he stated.

According to him development has been greatly affected due to the halt of projects by a new party voted into power.

“There is lack of continuity in government projects. It doesn’t matter the value or importance or any project one party starts, as soon as another party comes to office there has to be a discontinuation."
