The Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Amorse Blessing Amos, has cautioned potential appointees of the incoming administration to prioritise accountability and respect for the party’s grassroots supporters.

Speaking at the NDC's Victory Walk in Accra on Saturday, January 4, 2024, he urged future government officials to avoid corruption and arrogance, emphasising the pivotal role grassroots supporters played in securing the party’s victory in the December 7 elections.

“For those who are fortunate to secure appointments to serve the country, we don’t want to hear anyone claim they are not here to serve the party’s interests

"On behalf of the youth of the NDC and the youth of Ghana, I want to remind all appointees of the hard work and sacrifices made by the grassroots. They cannot afford to disappoint. Whatever opportunities exist in this government, the NDC grassroots deserve their fair share,” he urged.

Amorse Blessing expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for giving the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, a decisive win.

He acknowledged the extraordinary effort of party supporters, stating, “We thank you all for voting for John Dramani Mahama. You exceeded the expectations of our leaders, and soon the President-elect will be sworn in and appoint his team. While not everyone will secure a position, we trust that the contributions of the grassroots will be recognised.”

He also stressed the importance of creating job opportunities for the youth, asserting that the time for mere handouts was over.

“We are looking for jobs because we have worked hard for this decisive victory. We want to enjoy the fruits of our labour. We trust in the President-elect, and we know he won’t disappoint us", he noted.

Amorse Blessing further warned against the pitfalls that led to the defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), attributing their loss to arrogance and corruption.

“If you are an appointee of John Mahama and you involve yourself in corruption or arrogance, the youth of the NDC will bring you down,” he warned.

The Victory Walk served as a rallying call for the party to maintain unity and uphold the values that propelled it to victory, ensuring that grassroots supporters remain a core part of the NDC's success story.
