The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman Kwaku Asomah-Kyeremeh has accused bigwigs in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of forcibly bussing students of the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) and students from various tertiary institutions who are not members of the party to their functions in Sunyani.

He further alleged that students to their recently held  ‘Job Summit’ were housed and camped in one of the hotels in the region.

The Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and Kwame Ahwoi educated youth groups and indigenes in the region on job creation opportunities over the weekend.
But speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, Mr Asomah-Kyeremeh claimed the students were bussed by the NDC gurus for their programmes against their will just to make it look like the party is attractive.

According to him, selected principals of nursing schools and rectors of Polytechnic in the region tricked the students to attend the programmes under the pretext of giving roll calls in the various buses.

‘The principals of these schools threatened to sack the students if they fail to report at the campus of Sunyani Polytechnic for NDC programme, students of University for Energy and Natural Resources, staff of youth employment, another training college in brown school uniform were all bussed to their Job summit as well. They conducted roll calls in the buses just to listen to Julius Debrah and Kwame Ahwoi,’ he alleged.

The NPP Regional Chairman claimed newly employed YES were brainwashed to vote for NDC else when the NPP comes to power, they will be relieve of their jobs.
He questioned if a roll call will be conducted during the December polls, saying the NDC will be voted out during the elections.

Mr Asomah wondered  what might have pushed the President to pay three months allowance arrears of teachers and nurses after he early scrapped same.

‘After withdrawing the allowance, we have heard on the airwaves that they will only pay three months arrears. Mahama has been very inconsistent with the payment of teachers and nurses’ trainee allowances, what has prompted them to pay three months arrears now,’ he said.

In a rebuttal on Abusua FM, the Regional Minister Eric Opoku debunked claims that they influenced the students to vote for them.

‘Where lies the influence if NDC TEIN organises its programme, the chief of staff only educated the youth on job opportunities. I have told you that if you don’t stop the dirty politics on the airwaves, you will continue to lose elections,’ he said.
