The Director of Conflict Resolution at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has called for the resignation of Attorney-General Godfred Dame.

This comes as the NDC prepares to release evidence against Dame in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial.

The third defendant in the case, Richard Jakpa, has accused Dame of repeatedly seeking his assistance to implicate the Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

While Dame has categorically denied these allegations, the NDC has announced plans to provide evidence supporting Jakpa's claims in the coming week.

In an interview on "The Big Issue" on Saturday, May 25, 2024, Amaliba expressed his concerns about Dame's suitability for office. He criticized the Attorney General’s temperament and tendency to view political opponents as enemies.

"The AG has met his Waterloo... he simply is not fit for that office, and I have said that an AG should be cool-headed. He lacks the temperament; he sees his political opponents as enemies," Amaliba stated.

Amaliba maintained that Dame was aware of his attempts to persuade Jakpa to implicate Ato Forson.

He argued that Dame's actions demonstrated a significant conflict of interest and lack of professionalism.

"I think at this point, Godfred Dame should resign... Next week, we have promised to put these things out. He will hear his own voice implicating [Ato Forson]. So, I think it is in his best interest to resign before this evidence is adduced," he asserted.

Amaliba further alleged that Dame had met with the accused person several times without his lawyer and had spoken to him during "ungodly hours," all in an effort to get Jakpa to implicate Forson.

"Because he knows he has met the accused person several times without his lawyer. He knows he has spoken to the accused person at times that the accused person himself described as ungodly hours, all in an attempt to get the third accused person to implicate the first accused," Amaliba concluded.
