Major (Rtd) Osahene Boakye Gyan, former spokesperson of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) has said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of which he is a member, can within one hour mobilize powerful militant groups to counter the opposition New Patriotic Party.

According to him, the NDC has more retired military men than any other political party in the country, hence, such mobilization will not be a daunting task for them at all.

“From Captain Kojo Tsikata to Rawlings through to myself we can do that within one hour,” he emphasized.

Major (Rtd) Boakye Gyan was speaking in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi, host of TOP FM’s morning show on Tuesday, in connection with the arrest of the three South African ex-police officers for training the private security personnel of the New Patriotic Party flagbearer coupled with the arrest of the Head of the NPP leader’s security, Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda.

Major Boakye Gyan, who condemned the training by describing it as a treasonable offence, said the NDC can squarely mobilize a counter militant group against the NPP.

“I will urge all supporters of the NDC to relax because we can mobilize such a militant group within one hour,” he said. Adding “we don’t have to give them special training.”

He further told Ekourba Gyasi that “parallel military maneuvers such as the one being done by the NPP can only mean one thing and that is to overthrow the government.”

“I will urge the government to take over the prosecution and charge them with treason because look what will happen, if God forbid, Nana Addo wins the elections, how will he handle the group?” He quizzed.

“If Nana Addo feels he is threatened by anybody, he is a lawyer, he should write to the Police for protection,” he suggested.
