The Chairman of the local organizing committee of the 36th Anniversary Celebration of 31st December Revolution, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has disclosed that the Volta Region has been chosen for the event because it remains the stronghold of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He indicates that the party risk collapse if it tries to do without the region which for years has been regarded as its world bank.

Voter apathy in the region greatly affected the fortunes of the umbrella family which culminated into one of its disgraceful defeats in the hands of the then New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the December 2016 polls.

Founder of the party, Jerry John Rawlings who is moving the celebration to the area, is expected to make strong statements about the party that appears to be at the crossroads.

“We are expecting over two thousand supporters including the former President, John Dramani Mahama for the 36th Anniversary of the 31st December Revolution”, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah said

According to him, there are indications that, more both members and sympathizers from all the ten regions are poised to celebrate the day with the founder of the NDC party.

“We have our banners, t-shirts and other paraphernalia are in town to suggest we are ready for the event”, the Ho East Member of Parliament (MP) disclosed in an interview.
