Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi

The Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has announced that the party and its followers will gather at the Cantonment Police Station to seek the release of its Parliamentary candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

Naa Koryoo, the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, was arrested by the police for possession of a gun.

The arrest occurred after the police discovered a gun in her car.

The Ghana Police Service, in a statement on Sunday, June 2, 2024, claimed that three persons were arrested at Ofaakor, near Kasoa in the Central Region, for possession of a firearm without lawful authority.

The suspects, including Ms. Okunor, Mustapha Mohammed, and Abdul Aziz Musah, who were onboard a Honda CRV saloon car with registration number GX-2044-19, were arrested around the Electoral Commission Office at Ofaakor.

In a statement, Sammy Gyamfi indicated that Naa Koryoo has been detained at the CID Headquarters since morning and is currently being transferred to the Cantonment Police Station.

He seized the opportunity to call on members of the NDC to convene at the Cantonment Police Station, where they will demand the release of their Parliamentary candidate.

FREE NAA KORYOO NOW!!!

In their evil bid to intimidate and cower the NDC into silence, the NPP-controlled Police Service has decided to detain the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency for no just reason or cause.

Her offence is simply that a weapon (gun) was found in her car. The said weapon is registered in her name. All the necessary registration documents have been submitted to the Police.

Unlike, Hawa Koomson who in 2020 actually fired a gun at a registration center, Naa Koryoo has not fired any gun or weapon. Yet, the NPP-controlled Police service is hellbent on detaining her.

Information reaching me indicates that the Dampare-led Police has detained her at the CID Headquarters since morning and are now transferring her to the Cantonments Police station for further detention.

All NDC supporters should join us at the Cantonments Police station for us to solidarity with our sister and demand her release now. Enough of the oppression and harassment of NDC figures by the NPP-controlled Police Service. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
