'NDC didn't perform in education sector' - Napo

Education Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku-Prempeh Education Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku-Prempeh

Speaking on the NPP's political show hosted by Ekow Vincent on Home Base TV, the Minister for Education and MP for Manhyia South Constituency Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh described the performance of NDC in the educational sector as abysmal.

"The performance of the previous government is not worthy of emulation and it comes as little or no surprise, the fact that they buried the sector in debts and shady deals", according to him.

The educational sector was a key focus of NPP's 2016 campaign and as such government has made frantic efforts to address challenges facing the flagship programme, Free SHS.

When asked about his banter with Prof. Nana Opoku Agyemang, He said "I didn’t attack the education Minister, I only attacked her poor performance at the educational sector

"We asked for the policy document on the Free SHS to ascertain the veracity of the NDC's progressively free SHS but our efforts only proved futile. We had no option than to expose the lies the NDC told Ghanaians in relation to their performance.

"An amount of 18 million cedis was used for buses but was not found in the budget when the search was done.

"The propaganda machinery of the NDC is hesitant in telling you this but a further 56 million debt on  dictionary for schools remains outstanding.

"Also, 15 million vocational and technical training books was signed for and amount released but it can’t be found in the budget. I can boldly say that the NDC had no plan to protect the public purse especially in the educational sector". he established
