Former NDC Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku Former NDC Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku

The former Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Nana Toku has urged all delegates in the region to vote on merit to produce quality leadership to steer the affairs of the party.

In a goodwill message to the party, the former chairman noted it was important the party elects “bold, courageous and decisive leaders capable of galvanizing the energies of all members for victory in the next general elections".

He cautioned the delegates not to compromise the core values of the party and its principles of probity and accountability.

He also advised the candidates to accept the outcome of the results in good faith and stay united after the polls.

The NDC goes to poll tomorrow, Saturday, June 23, 2018, to elect new constituency executives to manage the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The Western Region is conducting its elections at twenty-five constituencies without the Amenfi West where elections have been suspended indefinitely by the National Executive Committee of the party.

FORMER WESTERN REGIONAL CHAIRMAN NANA TOKU WISHES NDC DELEGATES A FRUITFUL CONSTITUENCY ELECTIONS

As the former Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), I (Nana Toku) will like to wish all NDC members in the Western Region well particularly delegates who are going to the polls to elect new Constituency executives this weekend.

I want to remind all and sundry that the conduct of the polls will grant winners opportunity to spearhead the affairs of the party at the Constituency level.

Indeed, many of the party members who are going into the contest, are likely to emerge victorious while others obviously will suffer defeat, all in the name of strengthening our democratic pillars as a party.

Therefore, I wish to state that, losing or winning, all contestants must note, this is part and parcel of the democratic process we have built as a party.

The culture of tolerance within the party, therefore, demands that we all accept, respect and uphold the outcome of the polls and support the elected executives to function properly ahead of the 2020 elections.

Our internal democratic pillars have been very well entrenched and therefore we ought to continue to jealously protect it by accepting the outcome of all our internal elections conducted on fairgrounds.

I am using this medium to congratulate all our gallant foot soldiers who are organizing assiduously at the grassroot level to keep this party strong and alive in opposition.

For the contestants going into the elections, I want to commend you for boldly stepping forward in your numbers, and in the quest to secure positions to serve our great party.

I want to remind members of this great party, especially delegates that the Constituency elections to be conducted across the country is crucial and therefore must produce quality leadership.

The outcome will determine the head and tail of our organizational structure as a party particularly in Western Region.

The elections should, therefore, provide bold, courageous and decisive leaders capable of galvanizing the energies of all members for victory in the next general elections.

Good and quality leadership can only be determined by you "our sophisticated" delegates through careful selection process during voting.

Therefore, all delegates must endeavour, never to compromise on the core values of our party, the underpinning principles of probity and accountability guiding true leadership, as well as loyalty and commitment to service delivery rather than a quest for quick reward.

It's my fervent hope that at least there wouldn't be any dispute, acrimony recorded throughout the contest in this region which is known for the peaceful conduct of internal elections.

I am more than excited that branch elections have already been conducted harmoniously, and hoping that the conduct of the Constituency elections will be done peacefully and considered equally successful as being envisaged or anticipated by all members of the party.

We must be guided by the principles of our tradition and allow peace and tranquillity to remain in the party throughout the contest, thus before, during and after the polls.

God Bless NDC

God Bless Ghana

Signed!

Nana Toku
