NDC endorses de-worming and dismisses allegations

Ho, Feb. 16, GNA - The Volta Region branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday urged parents in the region to allow their children to be de-wormed but dismissed alleged plot by the party to undermine the exercise and peace in the region.

A statement signed by the Party's Regional Secretary Mr Francis Ganyaglo said, " information gathered so far indicate that such reactions like vomiting, dizziness/nausea, abdominal pains and the likes are normal reactions associated with the drug".

The statement said the party, "therefore entreat parents to allow their children to be de-wormed to ensure their maximum classroom concentration and retention in school, which worm infested children do not benefit from."

The statement however dismissed as "cheap political propaganda", allegations by the Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi at a press conference on Tuesday that the confusion which characterized the de-worming exercise in the region on Monday was as a result of an alleged meeting spearheaded by the NDC in Keta as part of a bigger plan to undermine peace in the region.

"The NDC will finally like to dismiss the accusations of the minister against the NDC as complete attempts to throw dust into the eyes of the public and shy away from the real issues and call on the public to treat the allegations with contempt".

"Eventually, we wish to assure all parents and the generality of the Ghanaians that the NDC are social democrats... very much concerned with the general welfare not only of our future leaders but all the citizenry for which reason it will do nothing as a party to undermine the health and welfare of the people..." the statement said.
