NDC executives suspended for supporting Nyaunu

Executives of the National Democratic Congress in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency have been suspended for six months.

According to the party’s regional executives, the decision was taken because the constituency executives supported incumbent NDC MP Michael Teye Nyaunu who is now competing as an Independent candidate.

The party says it is befuddled by the decision by the Constituency executives to abandon the party’s candidate Ebenezer Oklitey Tei-Larbi and support an Independent candidate.

The former lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and current Deputy Eastern regional Minister is also contesting the main opposition NPP’s Dedo Dufie Kusi Agyarko as well as Teye Nyaunu.

The NDC’s regional secretary, Anthony Gyampo in an interview with XYZ News said the suspension of the constituency executives will not affect the fortunes of the party in the constituency.

These are constituency executives who are going round supporting an Independent candidate in their position as constituency executives...and that goes contrary to the provisions of our constitution so we thought we couldn’t tolerate that and they had to be either with the party or out of the party.

But the party’s youth organizer for the constituency, Frank Kodjo Baah says the executives have not been formally informed about the suspension or their alleged misconduct.

Although he would neither refute nor concede to the allegations, he told XYZ News that he sees nothing wrong with the executives supporting an independent candidate.
