Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central constituency, Isaac Adongo has disclosed that there was anxiety among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress that he may not secure a second bid to be in the next Parliament.
The outspoken lawmaker won the parliamentary primaries held on Saturday with a total of 843 votes hence beating his contender George Gamson who polled 226 votes.
Addressing a charged crowd after the declaration of results, Isaac Adongo said Bolgatanga has been put on the map of national economic discourse as a result of his hard work and thanked delegates for the rather overwhelming endorsement he received to represent the party in the constituency in the 2020 elections.
“It is a greater pleasure for me to see the level of support and love that my people have for me in Bolgatanga Central constituency. I have worked so hard to place the name of Bolga very high on the map of the Ghanaian economic discussions and political discourse. In Parliament my colleagues have always supported me to do the best I can for my constituency” he said.
He further revealed that there were genuine fears and anxiety among his colleagues and the rank and file of the NDC that he may not sail through the primaries and return to the next parliament.
“Over the last couple of weeks, there have been genuine anxiety among the NDC community across the country that I may not be coming back to parliament. Today am on my way back to parliament,” he declared.
Isaac Adongo noted that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) wished he never returns to parliament but that wish has been dashed by the people of the Bolgatanga Central constituency.
