NDC founder member lauds 2014 budget

Kofi Mintah, a founder member of National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commended government for its 2014 fiscal policy, which would facilitate speedy development of the country.

He expressed happiness about the setting up of Ghana Infrastructure Fund and Small and Medium Enterprise Fund (SME).

Speaking to Ghana News Agency in an interview in Winneba, he said the infrastructure fund would help reverse the national infrastructure deficit while the SME fund would facilitate growth and create employment for the youth.

Mr Mintah who was one time Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress, said he was not happy about the opposition to the budget by the Minority in Parliament.

He appealed to Ghanaians to do away with partisan politics when dealing with national issues and unite to move the nation forward.

“Let us stop doing politics with national issues,” he stressed.

Mr Mintah said “not even the 10 per cent cut of the salaries of the president, the vice president and ministers to support health delivery was appreciated by the Minority”.

He expressed confidence in President Mahama’s ability to deliver and appealed to the citizenry to give him time to deliver on his electoral promises.

The NDC activist commended the Black Starts for qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil next year.

He appealed to Ghanaians to pray for the success of the team.
