NDC founding members in Central Region cry for recognition

Winneba (C/R), March 7, GNA - Founding Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, have appealed to the National Executive to amend the party's constitution to give them recognition and vital roles to play.

At a meeting in Winneba in the Efutu Municipality of the Central Region, the founders said it was unfortunate that those who laid down their lives for the formation of the party had been marginalised by the party's constitution.

Mr Opoku Fofie, a founding member from Dunkwa-on-Offin expressed concern that the pioneers were not even mentioned or recognised in the constitution of the NDC. He asked the national executives to correct the anomaly without delay.

Mr Kofi Mintah from Assin South, stressed on the importance of the leadership of the party to bring the founding members and former Regional and Constituency Executives together and assigned roles to them to play.

Mr Kwame Donkor from Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, called on the national executive to initiate house- to- house education campaign to explain government policies and programmes to the people. He said the 2012 general election was around the corner and the party had to start serious organisation to ensure that it retained power with a wider margin of votes.

Mr Bart Cofie, a founding member from Cape Coast expressed concern about the pull-him or her down attitude that was raising its head in the party and urged supporters to do away with such negative traits and rather unite to make the party strong.
