The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 election campaign, Denis Miracles Aboagye, has said the NDC government, led by late President Mills upon assuming power in 2009, reversed almost everything President Kufuor achieved in terms of progress.

Speaking on GHOne TV on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, monitored by GhanaWeb, the Presidential Staffer said Ghanaians made a great disservice to the country by failing to re-elect NPP to continue with the developmental agenda it had started.

"President Kufuor brought National Health Insurance and made health, universal access to the people. That notwithstanding, in the year 2008, what we needed to do as a country was to simply say where we are as a nation. With the foundation that this NPP government has built, it is time for us to allow them to continue and leapfrog into the future we want to see for Ghana.

"Unfortunately, President Kufour encountered challenges in 2008. The global economic crunch, there was a fuel shortage, and there was a water shortage in inner cities, cantonments and Labone, people were carrying yellow gallons fetching water from the gutters. What happened was that we truncated our development trajectory at the time and introduced a new government," he said.

Miracles Aboagye added that the NDC government failed to steer the country on the path of development.

"The NDC government reversed almost everything President Kufuor achieved in terms of progress. And so, by the time we got to 2016, we were in an energy crisis; our lights were off three years of four years of their tenure. Health insurance had lost 1.5 million subscribers because they no longer believed in it. Every year, hundreds of thousands of our young ones were left on the street and not able to access senior high school because their parents were poor. So, there were so many things that were going wrong with our country."
