NDC gurus lavishly enjoying state funds as Ghanaians suffer - Agyapong

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has said that whereas most Ghanaians are facing financial difficulties in recent times, some ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) kingpins are lavishly enjoying state funds.

According to him, the NDC during election 2012 was doubtful of victory so they ‘looted’ from state coffers and this he believes has contributed immensely to the financial and economic dwindling of the state.

“NDC was so sure that they were not going to win election 2012 so they were looting. Ghana today don’t have money, but the NDC gurus have the money…they are keeping it because they thought they were not coming to power. How do you take government money and bring it back?” He questioned.

The NPP lawmaker however said President John Dramani Mahama should not be blamed for the country’s economic miseries since the mishap has already been created.

“I sympathize with Mahama [President]. But his administration has caused this…they were chanting during the 2012 election campaign that ‘Edey Be K3k3’ because of what they were doing behind,” he said.

Speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, the outspoken NPP MP slated the Chief Scribe of the ruling NDC government, Asiedu Nketia’s recent proposal that government should consider using the Ghana Heritage Fund to bailout the ailing economy and also to undertake developmental projects for the benefit of the future generations.

He described his proposal as ‘unfortunate’.

According to him, politicians are not doing Ghana any good, rather leaving the citizenry to suffer.

“We need honest politicians in this country…we need leaders who are committed and willing to see the betterment of this nation. If not, it will be really difficult to compare this country to other developing countries,” he noted.
