NDC UK & Ireland Chapter hosts a Spectacular Victory Party in London

The NDC UK and Ireland Chapter held a spectacular victory party over the weekend in celebration of the National Democratic Congress' victory at the December 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The Victory Party held at the Tottenham Green Leisure Centre, North London was well attended by party members, supporters, sympathisers, well wishers and friends of the NDC in the United Kingdom.

The Special Guest for the event was His Excellency, Professor Kweku Danso-Boafo, the Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Also in attendance was the Deputy High Commissioner, Her Excellency, Mrs Elizabeth Nicol. The focus of the evening was, of course, to celebrate the NDC Victory at the December 2012 elections. The event kicked off with a prayer by the Reverend Gilbert Amartey. Ms Mary Osabutey, the Chairperson for the occasion in her welcoming address, thanked the people of Ghana for keeping faith in the NDC and for electing His Excellency President John Mahama as the President of the Republic of Ghana. She called upon all to join hands in celebrating the NDC historic victory.

There were goodwill messages from the NDC branches from Liverpool, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Luton. Members of the JDM Fan Club were there in their numbers to grace the occasion. Senior party members, including Alhaji Abbas Mensah fire up the audience with his usual sense of humour and pleasantry. The main speaker for the evening His Excellency Professor Kweku Danso-Biafo thanked the Chapter for inviting him to the occasion. He asked the gathering to keep in mind that as they celebrate the NDC victory, they should also keep in mind the NDC commitments to the people of Ghana during the general elections. Professor Danso- Boafo called on the Chapter and all Party members to bury differences they may have in order to double their efforts to help the President deliver on his key electoral promises. He said his doors were open to assist any Ghanaian in the UK who would need his assistance.

The Victory Party which was billed as a weekend event for the NDC members in the UK became an extravaganza that attracted party sympathisers, sections of the Ghanaian media in the UK, well wishers and many friends of the NDC. There was a representation from the UK Branch of the People National Congress(PNC). The attraction of the evening was when the audience took to the dance floor dancing to the tune of the NDC party anthem and victory songs. From the moment dinner was served, the evening was full of victory delight, designed to entertain with invited guests joining in to make their mark and presence felt on the dance floor. For those who needed more energy for dancing into the night were served with grilled kebabs and chocolate ganache with red and white wine. However, it seemed dancing was the priority as guests kicked off their shoes to dance the night away.

Mr Ekow Mends, a former Chairman of the NDC UK & Ireland Chapter gave the vote of thanks. A representative from the Liverpool Branch blessed the gathering with a Muslim prayer.

Truly, it was an evening full of "gargantuan" Victory delight never to be forgotten.
