National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku has said, that the tag of incompetence on the National Democratic Congresss is nowhere near being wiped off.

According to him, the party, even in opposition is still exhibiting incompetence in its dealings and its leaders lack integrity.

“Even in opposition, the NDC is still incompetent, the current leadership composition of the NDC lacks credibility”, he said.

His comments come on the back of the Minority’s allegations suggesting government has a hand in the recent killings of police officers in the country.

NDC Chairman, Kofi Portuphy, addressing pressmen at a conference in Accra Thursday July 20 instigated that “goons” and “squads” from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are behind the recent killngs of some policemen in their line of Duty.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam program, Mr. Awuku said the NDC was confused. Following comments by his co-guest, George Opare Addo on the show indicating that the NDC’s allegations were not serious ones, Sammy Awuku said, “When the NDC was making the statement, they said categorically that the NPP was behind the killings but after asking him, an NDC former MCE, he said they were not serious allegations but you heard the party Chairman saying emphatically that we did it, he did not say it was an inferral. It means they just went to talk uselessly”.

He made reference to the fact that several police personnel lost their lives under previous NDC administrations. He cited 11 persons in 2014, 7 policemen in 2015 and 15 persons in 2016. Would you say the NDC goons were behind all these deaths?”, he quizzed.

“When you were in government and in charge of the state security apparatus, you were able to let all these number of people lose their lives".

He urged the NDC to stop the propaganda and focus on the fact that human lives have been lost adding that the government under which the lives were lost does not make it justifiable.

“Precious lives have been lost, whether it is under the NPP or the NDC, it is not justifiable, the family still feels the pain whenever it is mentioned, regardless of when it happened”.

He said the NPP will take up the task and ensure that such events are not repeated moving forward.

“As a party, we will take it up”, he said.

The country has in recent times experienced massive gruesome attacks on security personnel in the country. A total number of three policemen have died at the hands of criminals since January, with the latest being Daniel Owusu, a police officer who was shot in the daylight shooting at Lapaz in Accra.

Some police posts have also been besieged for various reasons and personnel harassed in the process.
