NDC is responsible for the upsurge in prostitution in the North - NPP guru

The Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is responsible for the sharp increase in prostitution in the Northern Region, according to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tamale North Constituency.

Akilu Shaibu has linked the upsurge of the situation, which has been described by some opinion leaders in the area as worrying to the joblessness of the youth.

The NPP aspirant said this when journalists called him up to share his thoughts on a recent report which pointed out that promiscuity have shot-up drastically in recent times in the community.

To the outspoken NPP man, the development is the manifestation of atrocious polices implemented by the NDC administration, warning that the figures could increase if care was not taken.

Akilu Shaibu affirmed that if government was able to properly and effectively implement the policies and social interventions it promised during the electioneering campaign, many of the youths would be employed by now.

“If the NDC had been sincere to the people and implemented the promises it made, I don't believe that the youth here will decide to engage in prostitution instead of working. The issue is the unavailability of opportunities for the people,” he added.

It was on this score that he called on the electorates in the region to offer their unflinching support to the NPP, which he said, was the only political party that could put the Ghanaian economy on a sound footing.
