Mrs Lucy Aning, a former Member of Parliament for Bechem in Brong-Ahafo, under the administration of the Convention People's Party (CPP), on Friday, July 1, 2016, blew her top and attacked the presidential candidate of the party Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, for doing the bidding of the ruling government.
The outspoken politician alleged that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is sponsoring their candidate, hence he has failed to represent the interest of the CPP.
Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.FM, the former legislator said, Ivor Greenstreet and some members of the CPP were planted into the party by the umbrella family to destabilise it.
According to her, their candidate has and continue to defend President Mahama, instead of espousing the ideals of the Nkrumahist party. The CPP she stated must go back to the drawing board, learn from its past and revive its glorious days.
The party she added was formed on the principles of integrity, truth and incorruptibility, thus it will be prudent the current administrators of the party build on that foundation.
Her comments follows the suspension of two executives of the party, Nii Armah Akomfrah, General Secretary and Youth Organizer, Ernesto Yeboah. The party after a Central Committee meeting on Thursday afternoon suspended the two executives for ''acts of indiscipline''.
The two chided their presidential candidate Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, for saying that President Mahama's acceptance of the Ford Expedition gift by the Burkinabe contractor was not a breach of protocol. Mrs. Lucy Aning responding to the suspension said, this is slap on face of the party.
She told the host that the destroyers of the CPP who she described as 'Trojan Horses', within the party are bent on collapsing the party like former President Rawlings did in the past.
''I am not mincing words, Ivor Greenstreet, Prof. Edmund Delle and all the executives of the party are pro-Mahama and don't believe in the ideals of the CPP...They should leave us alone. They know that CPP will rise again so they want to do all possible to prevent that because when the CPP rise again, the NDC will collapse.''
When asked if she was ready to defend herself if sued, she dared those who want to do so to go ahead, since she is ready to face them off in court.
