Members of the opposition NDC have commiserated with families who have lost members to the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The National Democratic Congress' (NDC) sympathies were expressed at the party's weekly press briefing, Monday June 15 2020.

In an address to the media, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Former Minister of Education, Okudzeto Ablakwa relayed the party’s heartfelt message to those who have lost relatives to the virus and also sent well wishes to those currently in hospitals and isolation centres.

While commending government for evacuating some Ghanaians stranded abroad, Okudzeto Ablakwa bemoaned the huge cost imposed on the returnees.

“On behalf of the flagbearer of the NDC, the National Executives, Minority leader and Parliamentary caucus we convey our deep sympathies and condolence to those aggrieved. We also want to convey our solidarity to all those who have been affected, sick and hospitalized by this. We must also remember those who stranded currently. Government has finally listened to our calls and has put up some schedule of evacuations for those evacuations.

Ghana has so far recorded 53 deaths with the total number of confirmed cases standing at 11,964.
