Mr Baba Gariba Adam, the newly elected Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Assin Central Constituency has stressed the need to forge ahead in unity to wrestle power in 2020.

Delivering his victory message after the NDC's Constituency elections on Saturday, the 40-year-old Businessman said that was the surest way to save Ghana from the current economic doldrums and better the living conditions of the people.

Mr Gariba Adams called for an end to politics of personal attacks and internal wrangling, which would only go to tarnish the image of the Constituency and the Party.

He also urged all Party faithful in the Constituency including the contestants to forge ahead in peace and unity and work hard to win the election in 2020.
According to him, the Party's major challenge was how to capture the Assin Central Parliamentary seat, which had eluded it over the past 20 years saying, “All efforts must be marshalled to wrestle it from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020”.

Mr Gariba-Adams polled 395 votes to beat his opponent Mr Gordon Fordjour, who garnered 236 in a keenly contested election, which was conducted in peace and harmony.
The newly elected executives who were immediately sworn into office included Mr John Ampomah, Vice Chairman, Mr Sadique Yeboah, Secretary, Mr Enerst Boadu, Deputy Secretary, Mr Kingsley Aboagye, Organizer, Mr Kofi Aboagye, Deputy Organizer, Mr Ibrahim Abdul-Rahman, Treasure and Mr Dominic Darkwa, Deputy Treasure.

The rest were Mr Emmanuel Abdoni, Communication Officer, Mr Musah Osmanu, Deputy Communication, Mr Edward Boakye, Youth Organizer, Mr Bernard Baako, Deputy Youth Organizer, Mr Habib Adam, Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Madam Agatha Lawson, Women Organizer and Madam Beatrice Nyarkoh, Deputy Women's Organizer.

Mr Alex Antwi Bosiako, a Party official in-charge of the elections, thanked the delegates and the contestants for their display of political maturity and adherence to law and order.
