The Deputy National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho, says the party is not perturbed by former President Rawlings registering for his Ghana Card.
Jerry John Rawlings on Tuesday reportedly registered for the Ghana card even though the NDC had decided to boycott the registration.
The Minority in Parliament had earlier issued statements and reportedly refused to partake in the registration of Members of Parliament (MP) for the national ID cards raising legal, procurement and cost concerns.
The Minority in Parliament argued that the NIA has not been honest with Ghanaians over the cost of the project as well as the requirement one needs to acquire the Ghana Card.
But speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Deputy National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho said the NDC is only against the documents required for the exercise.
He added that Mr. Rawlings partaking in the exercise does not contradict the stance of the minority in Parliament and that the party still maintains its stance on the Ghana Card exercise.
“President Jerry Rawlins registering for the Ghana card is not a worry to the party, not at all. There is nothing wrong with the act and it does not contradict our position at all. We still maintain our stance. We are not against the Ghana Card, we are only against the documents one needs to use in other to register for the card,” he said.
