Mr Emmanuel Max-Voy, a parliamentary aspirant for the Ashaiman Constituency on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has died, before the primaries of the party.
Family Spokesperson, Mr Nathaniel Kofi Fiador, confirmed the death to ClassFMonline.com on Monday, 5 August 2019, while refuting suggestions that Mr Max-Voy died of a kidney-related disease.
An earlier press release explained that Mr Max-Voy passed away at the Ridge Hospital on Sunday 4 August 2019 “after a short illness”.
The family stressed that the parliamentary aspirant, who was a member of the Finance Committee of the party in the Greater Accra Region “did not die through kidney failure”.
Mr Fiador said the family is yet to meet and discuss plans for burial and funeral rites of their son.
Meanwhile, a book of condolence will be opened to the general public at the Martin Luther King Jr. School, Lebanon branch and New Happy Home Academy, Ashaiman New-Town from Tuesday, 6 August to Sunday 10 August 2019.
